The Brimfield Flea Market has fields of unique finds for antique and thrift shoppers. But for first-timers, it can be a bit overwhelming.

More than 50,000 people attend the Brimfield Flea Market each year. It runs three times a year for about a week each time. The show consists of many different fields, each with hundreds of vendors.

When is it?

The Brimfield Flea Market happens three times a year in May, July and September.

The final show for 2022 is Sept. 6-11. However, not all fields are open each day.

At least a dozen of the fields open on Tuesday. A few others open on Wednesday. May’s Antique Market opens Thursday and Brimfield Auction Acres opens Friday. Most of the fields close Sunday.

Hours depend on the field and vendor. Typically hours are between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, some vendors close earlier.

The event is held rain or shine — just be sure to bring rain boots.

Dates for 2023 markets have also already been announced. They are May 9-14, July 11-16 and Sept. 5-10.

Where is it?

For those using their GPS to get to the Brimfield Flea Market, it is suggested to use the address 35 Palmer Road in Brimfield.

From there, parking can be found off the main road.

Where can I park?

Parking is not allowed on the side of the main road. There are signs posted along the street to advise attendees.

There is, however, plenty of parking.

Parking can be found in multiple different areas off the main road. It is typically $10.

For those looking to go to the flea market with a more secure plan for parking, one area to look for is behind the Brimfield Winery. Another open is the First Congregations Church, which typically offers parking. It is located at 35 Main St.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes.

Dogs aren’t allowed on every field but many people bring their dogs to the flea market.

It’s important to keep your dog in mind while shopping though.

Large furniture and wagons will often be passing by. It’s important to watch out for your dog. There is also a lot of walking and small dogs could get tired easily.

Where are the best places to shop?

It depends what you’re looking for.

Some of the fields cost money, especially on the first day. But many fields are free to shoppers.

You likely won’t see everything in one day, so it might be good to plan to return other days.

Certain vendors also have a social media following. Those vendors often post on their accounts what field they’re on. To find vendors, Instagram users can use #brimfieldantiqueshow, #brimfieldfinds or #brimfieldfleafinder.

It’s common for vendors to continue using the same fields each show but they also occasionally switch. So, they might not be at the same spot next year.

Common advice is if you find something you like, buy it. It might not be there tomorrow.

Food trucks and stands offer Brimfield Flea Market shoppers a place to stop and eat.

Many food stands are gathered together on Palmer Road. There are a few outside of that area, too.

Do I need cash?

No, although it might be a good idea to carry some.

Many vendors now accept cards but some still don’t. There are also ATMs located throughout the town attendees can visit.

What if I buy something big?

Many people bring wagons to help carry their items to the car. But if something is too big to fit in your wagon, there are porters available to hire.

Many dealers will also work with you if your item is too big for your car.

Some options include returning later with a truck or U-Haul or working with someone the dealer knows for delivery.

What if I’m looking for a specific item?

There are a lot of items at the Brimfield Flea Market, ranging from old cameras to doll heads. But if you’re looking for something specific, it’s best to crowdsource.

It’s common for shoppers to ask other shoppers where they found something during the show. So, don’t be shy about talking to strangers.

There are also Facebook groups to help narrow down the search. Some groups allow buying, while others are just for showing off what will be at the show.

What if I can’t go in person?

The Brimfield Flea Market was unable to open in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It slowly began reopening in 2021.

The pandemic also introduced a virtual Brimfield Flea Market option.

Brimfield LIVE Online is the only official online show, which is run through Hertans Show Field. It allows customers to shop vendors virtual booths, see showcased items, bid live at nightly auctions and more.
