The Brimfield Flea Market starts today: Here’s everything to know (2024)

Tuesday marks the first official start date of the 2024 May show of the Brimfield Flea Market.

As the first show of the year, first-time shoppers and seasoned Brimfield Flea Market pros alike all gather eager to get in on the first day of unique finds and sales.

Here’s what to know about opening day, Tuesday, May 14.

What time does the flea market open?

The hours vary depending on which show field you plan to visit but overall, booths are open to shop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, some fields open at sunrise if you plan to get there early.

Where in Brimfield is it?

The flea market stretches along Route 20 in Brimfield.

For those using their GPS to get to the Brimfield Flea Market, use the address 35 Palmer Road in Brimfield, the website suggests. Shoppers will see plenty of parking areas off the main road with a fee that is usually $10. Some lots may charge more.

What fields are open Tuesday?

Not every field will be operating the entirety of the flea market. Below is a full schedule of what fields are open on Tuesday, according to the website.

Shows that have a set hard opening time and charge admission are listed below, according to a Brimfield Flea Market Facebook post.

  • Brimfield Auction Acres Trunk Show: Opens at 7 a.m. on Tuesday only
  • Black Swan Meadows: Opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday
  • Dealers Choice Antiques Shows: Opens at 11 a.m. on Tuesday only

Will I have to pay?

Most of the shows are free but some field shows charge admission for the first day and stop after that. However, the website of the market said, “it’s not very costly to shop Brimfield.”

Overall, it is best to carry cash on you just in case.

What if it rains opening day?

The market happens rain or shine. The start of the week is expected to be partly sunny with a high of 77, according to the National Weather Service.

However, rain is expected to start Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday.

Can I bring my dog?

Some show fields do not allow pets and some do. However, the size and level of training of your dog would be a consideration, the website says.

Service dogs are the exception and are welcomed everywhere.

The short answer is yes, the long answer is it depends, according to a Brimfield Flea Market Facebook post. But not all parking lots and fields allow dogs on their property. For the fields that do allow pets, not all vendors on the field will allow your dog in their tent.

What can I buy?

You really can buy just about anything in Brimfield.

“If you wanted to buy a purple, polka-dotted people eater, you would find one here,” vendor Donna Glancey told MassLive in 2023.

Over the years, MassLive has found animal skulls for sale, antique glass bottles, furniture, artwork, taxidermy, crystals, jewelry, vintage clothes, garden accessories, plants, and even a spirit board.

Where can I eat?

Food trucks and stands are offered throughout the Brimfield Flea Market. You can find food or drink on almost every field.

Be sure to plan out your eating time because picnic tables and seats near the food stands fill up quickly. You may get stuck standing and eating.
